Somewhere between my senses, music, poetry and the incessant whirling of my brain my art springs to life. It is an exhausting though exhilarating experience capturing my emotional response to a ‘sense of place’. Each painting explores the changing effects of light, colour, and movement by translating the illusionary depth and surface textures through the nuances and marks.
I am fascinated by secret paths lined with overhanging trees and flowers leading to unknown places, barely moving tranquil canals and rivers - fast or slow, seas – beckoning exploration, adventure, risk and possibilities. Sometimes I see an image as if through a microscope and at other times I zoom out with my eyes leaving just the abstraction and hint of a landscape. The viewer is enticed to step inside the painting to find their own place to contemplate, and to escape into often finding hidden images and places locked within.
As a lifelong professional painter I am known internationally and in the UK. My work is held in the Folkestone Art Collection and the Northern Arts Collection. A sample of my exhibitions:-
